Who will be working with my child?

The MFM team is highly trained in mutlisensory math methods. None of our team are contractors with their own methodology.

All team members are trained through a rigorous program for multisensory math and learn about the neurodiverse students we work with.

Many of our staff members have Master’s degrees or Ph.D.’s! They choose to work with us here because we truly do what works for students.

Who do you serve?

We serve the following students:

3rd grade – college students

So in a nutshell, we’ll work with your student! Our roots started in middle school, but we’ve since expanded and we work with most ages.

Will the assessment cause my student anxiety?

We totally get that testing can make for a miserable experience. We can break the assessment up into different lengths to accomodate for the stress, but you should also know that your child will be working with a real human.

How long will it take for my student to get to grade level?

Great question. Many parents are worried about the length of committment and how quickly they can see results. As with all things that require sweeping changes, there is no magic bullet.

It can take years before they reach grade level but usually parents start to see results immediately.

Anxiety goes down.

Confidence increases.

Self-advocating begins to happen.

To give you a picture of what this looks like, a student typically works with us for several years before they start phasing out of our help. Students start earning the grades they’re looking for, speaking up for themselves, and even challenging a teacher’s thinking in class when they discover a different way of solving.

When a student starts coming to sessions with very little questions and feels confident they understand, we begin moving students into an “as-needed” basis.

Where do sessions take place?

All online using Zoom.us, a live-video platform that allows us to use several different types of software.

We’re multisensory, so don’t be fooled! We mail materials to your child to get hands-on learning in each time they work with us.

All materials are included and will be mailed to your home.

Is working online safe?

Safety and quality service matters to us!  All sessions are recorded to capture learning and keep students/specialists safe. We also have control over who we admit into the room.

Students love having access to the recording to refer to during the week when they are not having lessons.

Families will have access to a portal to watch sessions, update your debit/credit card details, and access courses.

Can we stop sessions once we start?

Absolutely. If your child is not “feeling it”, just let us know. We’ll walk you through how to stop. No refunds of unused sessions will be given. Notify us by email at hello@madeformath.com.

Monthly payments are the worst! Can we pay as we go?

No, our tuition model helps families plan for sessions. There are several months during a school year that would be extremely expensive such as October and March. There are fewer holidays and more opportunities for tutoring sessions. We don’t want our families to be surprised by a big bill ever!

Our tuition rates are based on an average amount of sessions used in one school year. We do have built-in holidays that coincide with most school calendars like Thanksgiving and Winter break.

Please don’t email and ask for an exception.

Assessment Questions

My child has anxiety, do we have to do an assessment?

Yes, all students need an assessment before working with us.

We understand that anxiety can make it near impossible for your child to take an assessment. Our team is trained in methods to lower anxiety because they understand that doing so leads to better data.

Many parents report that we’ve been able to get more data out of their child than the school has! The environment is safe, relaxing, and flexible.

While some parts of the assessment are timed, many parts of it are not. The student will be free to show what they know.

How long will the assessment take?

There are 3 appointments to complete the assessment. It may take between two to four hours but it will be broken up over multiple days to lower student fatigue.

Who will be assessing my child?

Our assessors are highly trained and have background in psychology. They will gather the data and write a comprehensive report to share with you. This is yours to keep! Feel free to use it to advocate for your child at school or as a guide for what methods are best.

You’ll be working with one to two different people on the assessment team. Be prepared to hear from each of them during different points.

Where does the assessment take place?

We will mail any materials needed to complete the assessment.

How long will it take to get the results?

Great question. Our assessors will spend about a week gathering data and then one to two writing the reports. When they are ready, they’ll meet with you to go over the results.

Trial Session Questions

How soon after our assessment will the trial sessions happen?

While you may have a complete assessment done, you may be on the waitlist to enter for about a month.

When an opening is available, a team member will call you to share the times. If the time does not work for you, we’ll move to the next name.

You can opt to stay on the list or move onto another option. Feel free to ask for referrals.

If the time does work for you, we’ll schedule your two trials with the selected specialist. After your sessions, if you are happy with the experience we’ll set up your payment plan.

What can we expect during these trial sessions?

Your specialist will be looking at the data and verifying the starting place. We’ll start with place value to make sure your child has a solid understanding of how the number system works.

The specialist will also be checking your tech setup and internet speeds to ensure that we’ve created an environment where learning can happen.

What if we start working with MFM late in the month?

No, we will not prorate the cost. We are tuition-based. The cost for us to provide these services has been calculated and averaged out over the school year. This means you will pay the same price every month, whether its a session heavy or a session light month. It doesn’t matter when you start, you will pay the same amount. 

Do you offer scholarships?

No, not at this time. We use every penny to serve your students in the best way possible. We have highly-trained specialists that will get you positive results and with that comes a cost.

Can we use an iPad or tablet for sessions?

No, a computer is best. Tablets slow down the session. 

What tech is required?
  • High-speed internet
  • Sitting at a desk or table
    Sit in a quiet place with math materials.
  • Preferably in a quiet room without background noise.
  • Earbuds are very helpful to cut down the background noise.
  • Remember, only 1 or 2 homework questions will be worked on in a session.
  • We base our sessions off therapy-type techniques to help your child excel, and working on homework takes away from that.
What is expected from me as a parent?

1st session: help your child get connected
2nd session: remind your child how to get connected
3rd session: remind them it’s time for their session

In general, be quick to reply to all emails and text messages (within 24 hours).

Let the staff know if you’ll be missing a session.

Keep your payment info up to date. If you have a failed payment that goes unresolved for a week, sessions will stop until it is fixed. No makeup sessions will be offered for that missed time.

What is expected from my child?

1st session: come with an open mind
2nd session: come with materials and a good attitude
3rd session: come prepared and start to trust the process

In general, be quick to join the session.

Let the staff know if you’ll be missing a session.

Keep distractions to a minimum.

What if we miss a session?

No problem! You can reschedule, just let us know 24 hours in advance.

You’ll want to reschedule that session for later in the week or month.

If there is no notice, then there is no rescheduling. You just forfeit that session.

Where do I access my course?

Who do you serve?

Help! It keeps asking for a code to login.

This is called two-step authentication. The system sends you an email with a code to enter. Most likely it landed in your spam folder. Head there to find the code and enter it.

Also, adjust your setting in your browser to add a cookie for courses.madeformath.com. This will store data that allows you to login without having to fetch a code.

Can I get a refund?

Yes, we offer refunds on digital courses but not our physical goods. Refunds will be offered within 10 days of purchase. Just email us at hello@madeformath.com.

Where's my order?

Orders take 5 – 7 days to fulfill it (meaning pack the box) and another 2 days for shipping. When your order has been processed for shipping, you’ll receive an email with a tracking number and what to expect.

I'm missing part of my supplies! Help!

That happens! Did you know that we have a blind team member helping with the packing of boxes? We do have a quality control check in place but mistakes do happen. If that’s the case, please email us at hello@madeformath.com

Can we get a bulk school order?

Do you accept returns?

At this time, no. We hope to have a storage facility soon that will allow us to store returns.

Do you take orders outside of the US?

Not at this time. We only ship within the US. We are working on finding a company to arrange for international shipping.
